LOYALTY 3.0 BY RAJAT PAHARIA

Loyalty 3.0: How to Revolutionize Customer and Employee Engagement with Big Data and Gamification by Rajat Paharia.

Rajat is the founder and chief product officer of Bunchball, a company that brings gamification, things like badges and other goals, to enterprise websites. (Rajat is also a very committed and engaging guest speaker -- he once spoke to all three sections of my MGMT 503 class.)

Loyalty 3.0 offers that the combination of motivation, big data, and gamification give organizations the opportunity to engage and stay actively involved with customers, partners, and employees. I like this approach because it takes a combination of human, organizational, and technological dimensions and applies them to particular organizational outcomes -- paralleling my views on plugged-in management.

This is a book with great case studies and insight into how the first gamification company innovates to support its clients.

Next, from my summer reading

I'll have a review of The Year Without Pants available soon. Lots of reviews out there for this one and I want to give it another pass.
