Great session Prof Griffith. WebEx has been a pioneer in the collaboration space. I have used WebEx tools since many years, and my experience has been great. However in the last 15 years, other competitors have started to emerge in the scene. For example in our group projects we are using Google Docs and Skype extensively. It would be great to see something (Free?) come from WebEx as well.

...and we'll all have to learn another mode of communication. Saw an article yesterday (will try and find link) that points out that the real value of the iPhone facetime is showing what you're seeing - sharing experience rather than your face. We also need to learn how to prepare props.

Significant advantages of video interview are cost savings and scheduling flexibility.

Video conferencing through computers using WebEx is certainly opening new opportunities in collaboration space. CNN (and other news and sports television networks) are doing this since years. We routinely see news anchors interviewing a reporter directly from site of event, live. What is significant now is that new developments are making this technology available at consumer level.

I think we (the followers) did it to them. People kept wanting to see, easier to make it routine. I'm also looking forward to catching up with the Delivering Happiness bus when it comes to SF in November. I really don't know how that part will work in terms of talking about democratic organizations or happiness more generally. We have data that shows democratic orgs have benefits, not so much on happiness for happiness sake.

Thanks for the tour redux! It's great that Zappos is so big on transparency - sets a great example. I have to confess, however, I find it a bit surreal for such a young company to turn itself into essentially a tourist attraction (business tourist attraction?). It's as though they're forcing iconic status, prematurely. Maybe when you're actually there it doesn't feel strange. And hey, if there's a market for it, why not? I'd much rather take this tour than spend time on the Vegas strip.
